A MOTHER, AN UNDERMINED INDISPENSABLE AGENT OF DEVELOPMENT.

The mothers have been ridiculed and their contributions undermined and left to go unnoticed and unappreciated. Being a mother has been seen as a worthless duty. Now, nobody wants to be a mother. No! I don’t mean nobody wants to be called mummy but nobody wants to be a Mother. You would want to wonder ‘what is the difference between being a Mother and a Mummy?’
Many of what we have today are mummies while that which we used to have time past were mothers. A mummy could be just a mother figure (someone to stand as a mother) while a mother is a woman that has lived up to the expectations of being a mother.
Mother, an indispensable agent of development I call them but how?
Take a look at the some of the youths and individuals in our society, the disoriented ones, in most cases you will find that these are youths who have lacked motherly care. Though they had mummies, they had no mother. They had no one to train them, instill proper discipline in them, teach them good etiquette, train them to be responsible for their selves and the ones that have been placed in their care, to be accountable for their actions, teach them to stand for and with the right thing, teach them to shun indiscipline, teach them to respect the right of others, etc. all of which are majorly of the roles of a mother. About these youths and individuals, you may want to ask ‘where were there mummies to do all of this for them?’ I’ll say they were probably too busy with their business and making money that they forgot that they have a tomorrow leader to train or maybe they never thought for once that this little child of theirs may grow up to become something meaningful, they forgot their family and left their children to be trained by the society, their friends, their teachers and whatever they are exposed to.
A good mother is the one who understands that though she may have to work to assist the family, most importantly she also has the responsibility of building to-be leaders of which if she fails, she would not have only created a problem to bear for herself in the future but also a burden on the society. If only mothers can rise up to their responsibility, imagine what a fantastic society we would be building and what type of productive, development-oriented and responsible individuals we would have out there.
That successful individual you see, that record breaker, that successful businessman, that outstanding student, that Olympic medalist, that celebrated footballer, the good-looking  and responsible man you see were all products of a woman who rose to her responsibility of being a mother whilst still working to assist the family in the little way she can.
Never ever underestimate the role of the woman. She is a nation builder, a change maker, in her hands is the panacea to many problems, if only she would rise to her responsibility.
