LIFE AND A FOREST

Have you not wondered why nothing seems easy to do and not perfect after it has been done? The beautiful geoid-shaped planet in which we live is itself not flat nor smooth, the journey into the earth from the womb was not with ease but stress, struggle and pain. If the earth in which we live is neither smooth nor flat, and your journey into it was not easy and fun-filled, how would you expect your journey through it to be easy and fun-filled. Not comparable to a bed of rose is life but a similitude of a forest of trees,   A part of which is filled with flowers and trees full op promises; the sight of which delights the eyes,   A part of it contains plain-looking trees; the sight of which makes no difference While trees with thorns and thick barks makes up the rest; a scene one will not want repeated or prolonged. When life like a forest turns it good side containing the flowers and delightful trees to us, this connotes when we are happy, successful in our ende...

A MOTHER, AN UNDERMINED INDISPENSABLE AGENT OF DEVELOPMENT.

The mothers have been ridiculed and their contributions undermined and left to go unnoticed and unappreciated. Being a mother has been seen as a worthless duty. Now, nobody wants to be a mother. No! I don’t mean nobody wants to be called mummy but nobody wants to be a Mother. You would want to wonder ‘what is the difference between being a Mother and a Mummy?’ Many of what we have today are mummies while that which we used to have time past were mothers. A mummy could be just a mother figure (someone to stand as a mother) while a mother is a woman that has lived up to the expectations of being a mother. Mother, an indispensable agent of development I call them but how? Take a look at the some of the youths and individuals in our society, the disoriented ones, in most cases you will find that these are youths who have lacked motherly care. Though they had mummies, they had no mother. They had no one to train them, instill proper discipline in them, teach them good etiquette, tra...

GENDER EQUALITY AS A BONE OF CONTENTION BETWEEN BOTH GENDERS

This topic for an argument is as null and void, in my opinion, as some other topics that we would debate over in school examples of which includes ‘boys are better than girls’, ‘farmers are better and doctors’, etc. In an argument like ‘farmers are better than doctors’, what differentiation are we trying to make between the farmers and the doctors? With what do we intend to raise the status of the farmers over the doctors? The farmers have their role to play and a contribution to make in the development process just like the doctors, at some point some of these roles are the same while at other points the differ from one another. Both personalities are needed and we really can’t do with just one of them without the other- the doctors to cater for our health and the farmer to help in producing food for the increasing population alongside other civic duties. Similarly, both genders have their role to play in societal, national and global development. However, some of these roles ar...

SO WHAT IF EVERBODY LOVES YOU?

And what will you benefit from the love of people if Allah(subhanok) doesn’t love you? nothing, except for fame, wealth and other things that starts and ends in this duniya but in the end you will have to face Allah(s.w.t) and be at His mercy. You are striving and struggling to be in the face of everbody, you want to be known by everbody without caring 'for what'. You are fighting for a spot in this duniya and cares not for a spot with Allah(s.w.t). How strange that a person grabs so tightly on this duniya for which he has no guarantee over? Know you not that you attain true success when you earn the pleasure of the one from whom you came and to who you shall return. His(subhanok) love is worth more than money or material things can express.

THE FAIR FULL MOON

Tonight as I gazed at the moon in its full, I can’t but praise the one and only who placed such a fair, gentle and warm body in the sky. I wished I could move closer to it and look even more at its beauty but suddenly this wish changed as I remembered the one who is brighter than the sun and fairer than the moon- Rosulullah(s.a.w). I long to meet him, do you? May Allah(s.w.t) unite us by his mercy with our Nabi(s.a.w). From the desk of a creative Muslim Abdultoyyib ibn Musediq

TRIALS

If being a Muslim means living a stress/problem-free life, who on this planet would not be a Muslim? But it is not so, trying times would come for both the believers and non-believers as Allah(s.w.t) said; “And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient” Quran (2v 155) Trials are however a test of faith and they come in various forms which includes emotional break-down, loss, stress, addiction, failure at achieving a goal, the rising of doubts, etc. but remember and don’t forget the threat/promise of the chief deceiver(shaytan) to destroy you and make sure that in the end you are ruined, this is a goal he is determined to achieve and from this we seek refuge in Allah(s.w.t). Trials are also blessings in disguise, as Allah(s.w.t) says; “Fighting has been enjoined upon you while it is hateful to you. But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a t...

“IF YOU CAN’T BEAT THEM, JOIN THEM”, HOW TRUE?

Many times when people are not in a position to change a wrong physically what they say or are told is ‘if you can’t beat them, join them’, how true is this statement? Should you join people in wrongdoings just because you can’t stop them?   In this kinds of cases, the Prophet(s.a.w) told us the nature of actions we should take when we see any wrongdoing perpetrated by a person or a group of people. He(s.a.w) said; “Whoever of you sees an evil must then change it with his hands. If he is unable to do so, then (he must change it) with his tongue. And if he is not able to do so, then (he must change it) with his heart. And that is the slightest(effect of) faith” – Muslim   In this hadith, the Prophet(s.a.w) makes it clear that the first thing a person must do when he sees a wrongdoing is to change it with his hands(i.e. remove it, if it is inanimate or prevent those doing the wrongs physically) but if he is not in a position to do that, i.e. he is not capable of ...
