Tonight as I gazed at the moon in its full, I can’t but praise the one and only who placed such a fair, gentle and warm body in the sky. I wished I could move closer to it and look even more at its beauty but suddenly this wish changed as I remembered the one who is brighter than the sun and fairer than the moon- Rosulullah(s.a.w). I long to meet him, do you? May Allah(s.w.t) unite us by his mercy with our Nabi(s.a.w). From the desk of a creative Muslim Abdultoyyib ibn Musediq

If being a Muslim means living a stress/problem-free life, who on this planet would not be a Muslim? But it is not so, trying times would come for both the believers and non-believers as Allah(s.w.t) said; “And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient” Quran (2v 155) Trials are however a test of faith and they come in various forms which includes emotional break-down, loss, stress, addiction, failure at achieving a goal, the rising of doubts, etc. but remember and don’t forget the threat/promise of the chief deceiver(shaytan) to destroy you and make sure that in the end you are ruined, this is a goal he is determined to achieve and from this we seek refuge in Allah(s.w.t). Trials are also blessings in disguise, as Allah(s.w.t) says; “Fighting has been enjoined upon you while it is hateful to you. But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a t...

Many times when people are not in a position to change a wrong physically what they say or are told is ‘if you can’t beat them, join them’, how true is this statement? Should you join people in wrongdoings just because you can’t stop them? In this kinds of cases, the Prophet(s.a.w) told us the nature of actions we should take when we see any wrongdoing perpetrated by a person or a group of people. He(s.a.w) said; “Whoever of you sees an evil must then change it with his hands. If he is unable to do so, then (he must change it) with his tongue. And if he is not able to do so, then (he must change it) with his heart. And that is the slightest(effect of) faith” – Muslim In this hadith, the Prophet(s.a.w) makes it clear that the first thing a person must do when he sees a wrongdoing is to change it with his hands(i.e. remove it, if it is inanimate or prevent those doing the wrongs physically) but if he is not in a position to do that, i.e. he is not capable of ...

Haven’t you for ones felt jealous seeing a brother or sister (in the deen) who apparently does lots of good deeds? Wishing you were in his/her shoes, well that’s normal and permissible (as it shows how much you love to be a doer of good and excel in it), but does it get to the extent that you begin to wish him/her evil? Thinking ‘has he not gone away with all the good deeds and what’s left for me?’ This is an attempt from shaytan to make you hate your brothers and sisters and to place in your heart aversion which is in opposition to what Allah(s.w.t) says: “And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided. And remember the favor of Allah upon you - when you were enemies and He brought your hearts together and you became, by His favor, brothers. And you were on the edge of a pit of the Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses that you may be guided.” Qur’an (3 v 103) So let’s eliminate this hazardous feeling (bii...

With the advancement in technology, one would expect life becoming easier, people becoming more efficient but reverse seems to be the case, the invention of mobile devices like Smartphones that were suppose to increase people’s efficiency is having a negative impact on (some of) them, we have people becoming more lazy, useful times that could be spent on developmental issues are wasted on mobile phones on not-so-important issues like chatting, downloading, uploading, reading unnecessary post, etc. If you interpret this to mean that social networking is bad, you’re wrong. Chatting of course is a cheap means of connecting people, what I am saying is that for a youth, spending too much time on this could be destructive especially when it begins to distract one from the original purpose of his/her existence(the worship of Allah(s.w.t)) or one gets addicted to it. Never has the use of social media been an indispensable criterion for success. We have youths who can’t even...
TAWBAH AND ISTIGHFAR

Like Iman and good deeds are intertwined and inseparable, Tawbah and Istighfar are two inseparable things – you cannot have one without the other. To feel regret, remorseful and bad about an act that you have done and then return to Allah(s.w.t) is Tawbah. Regrets and remorse are feelings that emanate from the heart just as being happy and cheerful, as such Tawbah is a thing of the heart, it is to regret and feel bad about something you’ve done that is bad from the depth of your heart and then return to Allah(s.w.t), as sin distances us from Him(subhanok). To ask for forgiveness verbally is to do Istighfar, at this point it becomes clear that this two are inseparable but sequential – one comes before the other, the first being Tawbah and the second, Istighfar. You can’t really be sincere about doing Istighfar when you don’t actually feel regret or remorse over what you’ve done, this is (probably) one of the reasons why we see many people returning to a sinful act for which the...
