TECHNOLOGICAL DELUSION
With the advancement in technology, one would expect life becoming easier, people becoming more efficient but reverse seems to be the case, the invention of mobile devices like Smartphones that were suppose to increase people’s efficiency is having a negative impact on (some of) them, we have people becoming more lazy, useful times that could be spent on developmental issues are wasted on mobile phones on not-so-important issues like chatting, downloading, uploading, reading unnecessary post, etc.
If you interpret this to mean that social networking is bad,
you’re wrong. Chatting of course is a cheap means of connecting people, what I am saying is that
for a youth, spending too much time on this could be destructive especially when
it begins to distract one from the original purpose of his/her existence(the
worship of Allah(s.w.t)) or one gets addicted to it. Never has the use of social
media been an indispensable criterion for success.
We have youths who can’t even control their use of mobile
phones, they use them (unnecessarily) even on the street while they walk or in
homes as they eat, as though that is not enough instead of spending their night
taking account of how they had spent the day and planning for what is to come (the
next day and beyond) or thinking about their development, they are back on the
phone.
Instead of striving to get what they would require to succeed
in life and prepare for what is to come(their future and most importantly the akhirah), they are found busy competing
with their mates on who uses the most
expensive things(games, mobile phones, etc), has the highest number of friends
or followers on the social network, etc.
These are of the technological delusions, what do you say of
the additive mobile games (the silent time-waster), mobile betting - an immoral
at that has been placed at the doorstep of everyone , amongst other.
Technology came with both the beneficial and the
destructive, it is for you to choose which path you want to tread, whilst there
are people who use the mobile phone, for example, majorly for frivolous purposes there are others
who use it to their advantage like in business, communication, learning,
getting informed about happenings around them and beyond, awareness, etc.
Be wise in making your choice and choose consciously, for you
may unconsciously if you don’t.
